Strategic Planning for Human Resources, First Edition

Strategic Planning for Human Resources is a solid first edition in a CHRP core course area for Human Resources at the college and university level. It blends current academic research with applied real-world practice, as reflected in the carefully selected author team of Julie Bulmash, MBA; Elizabeth Speers, Ed.D., of George Brown College; and Nita Chhinzer, Ph.D, of the University of Guelph.

The Bulmash et al. text has been written from the ground up in Canada for the Canadian course. All material has been created in the relevant context of the Canadian HR environment. This approach allows the Bulmash text to focus in greater detail on issues of concern to Canadian organizations and to Canadian human resource practitioners.

Nita N. Chhinzer is an Assistant Professor of Human Resources at the Department of Business at the University of Guelph. She also has teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels at McMaster University and Ryerson University. Her research is concentrated on strategic human resource management with a strong focus on downsizing practices, procedures, and ethics.

Elizabeth Speers is Academic Director at the Centre for Business at George Brown College in Toronto, where she manages both the School of Business and the School of Financial Services. Elizabeth began her career as a medical researcher at Queen's University. Elizabeth obtained her undergraduate degree with honours in chemistry and biology from York University in Toronto. She also holds a Masters of Science in Microbiology from the University of Alberta, a Bachelors of Education with specialist certificate in Chemistry and Biology, a Masters of Education in Administration, and a Doctorate of Education in Developing Human Resources from the University of Toronto.

Julie Bulmash is a professor at George Brown College in Toronto where she coordinates the HR program and teaches courses in organizational behaviour, human resource management, compensation, management of change, and organizational effectiveness. Julie obtained her undergraduate degree with honours in psychology at Concordia University in Montreal. She did graduate work in assessment and counselling at the University of Toronto, and took her MBA from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.
