About the Author

Dr. Anne O’Dowd’s previous publications include Spalpeensand Tattie Hokers: History and Folklore of the Irish Migratory Agricultural Worker in Ireland and Britain and Meitheal: A Study of Co-operative Labour in Rural Ireland. She worked for many years as a Curator in the National Museum of Ireland and now lives in county Mayo.
