About the Author
A sought after administrator, minister, and business professional with a successful background in community development. For the past 15 years, Lawrence has worked in many different capacities with non-profits, businesses, higher education institutions, and public school systems. His interest in working with underserved populations has motivated him to embrace many professional and personal challenges. During his tenure as a District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, Lawrence had the privilege of serving and expanding the inner city scouting program. In this role, he led the organization in experiencing the highest level of membership growth not only in the local council, but in the Midwest region. For this reason Lawrence was recognized as the recipient of the Regional Top 50 employee award, and the Chief Winners Circle Scouting award for highest membership growth. For the past 9 years he has served the Decatur Public Schools in many different capacities, currently as Director of Student Services. His primary goal is to establish community partnerships and organizational infrastructure development. Additionally, he is responsible for the implementation of district goals in the area of non-instructional supports, trauma informed care, restorative practices, integration of behavioral health supports, and social emotional learning. Within his first year he expanded the department to better serve students and families. Lawrence serves many community initiatives, and has been the guest speaker for different events. He has received numerous accolades for his work in human services, and literary works. He has authored three spiritual books, while serving in pastoral ministry at his local church. Lawrence is an ordained minister and community servant. Lawrence is married to his wife Brittanie for 13 years, and they have three sons. Lawrence lives by the quote, True success in life is not about the accumulation of materials, but leaving legacy and imparting value.
