This is the third edition of the standard text/reference for analysis and design of petrochemical and chemical process equipment; the new edition includes revision to reflect current practice, and current API Standards and ASME codes. The main function of this book is to provide structural, mechanical and chemical engineers associated with the petrochemical and chemical industries with a reference for the analysis and design of storage tanks, pressure vessels, boilers, heat exchangers and related process equipment and components such as piping, gaskets, and nozzles. This book can also be used to give graduate students a concise introduction to the theory, design, and use of storage tanks, pressure vessels, boilers, heat exchangers, and their related components. This book covers the theory of plates and shells and its industrial applications, and provides background for some of the design equations in the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII. The third edition offers revisions to the chapter on design of power boilers, and existing chapters have been expanded to cover new topics such as rectangular vessels with various side thicknesses, earthquake analysis, numerical vibration analysis, and design of U-tube and fixed heat exchangers. Also provides revised coverage of design of water tanks and expansion joints. Appendices contain extensive data for quick reference.
