About the Author

Tomas Valena studied philosophy, art history, architecture, and urban design in Munich and at the Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He has taught in Ithaca, Munich, Vienna, and Ljubljana and is currently professor of design and urban design at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. Tom Avermaete is associate professor of architecture at the TU Delft. His research concentrates on issues related to public space and public buildings, the architecture of the city and Modernism in non-Western contexts. Georg Vrachliotis studied architecture at the Hochschule der Kunste Berlin and did research at the universities in Bremen, Freiburg and Berkeley. Since 2010 he is assistant professor for architectural theory at the ETH in Zurich.
