The Structure of Individual Psychotherapy

"Bernard Beitman tackles the major challenge of articulating the structure of individual psychotherapy. As a leader in the integrative movement Beitman is well positioned to identify structures that are common across diverse systems of psychotherapy. Beitman applies the critical integrative dimension of stages of change to analyze how people can progress in therapy. For clinicians and academicians, Beitman's book is a valuable resource for those seeking to develop more effective approaches to psychotherapy." --James Prochaska, PhD

"This is an excellent introduction to the broad structure of psychotherapy of all types. It gives a bird's-eye view of the general principles and working models of psychotherapy....It is a book that can impart years of wisdom to learners of psychotherapy. I recommend it highly to psychiatric residents and clinicians." --Frederick T. Melges, MD

"I recommend the book without reservation." (American Journal of Psychotherapy 1990-12-14)
