About this title

Synopsis

The plate and frame filter press is one of the good devices for filtration on a large scale. Although many types of equipments have been designed since the introduction of the plate and frame filter press, still the extent of its applications and the number of units in use have grown steadily year after year. The reason for this growth has been the fact that a large proportion of the filtration problems of industry require the flexibility, high capacity, higher pressures, and rapidity of filtration cycle which are offered by this type of filter. The plate and frame filter press is most economical and most satisfactory for an extremely wide range of products requiring either clarification or the recovery of solids in suspension. In this work an attempt is made to study the performance of Plate and Frame filter press by varying various parameters influencing the effectiveness of the filter press. This work is aimed for utilization by researchers, industrialists’ and traditional businesses. Apart from this it will be especially relevant and useful for the students of Metallurgy, Mining and Chemical Engineering for carrying out research in the area of large scale filtration.
