Studies in the Weekly Parashah - Complete 5-volumes set.

There are many very fine books on the Torah, but there is only one “Nachshoni.” Since Rabbi Yehudah Nachshoni began publishing his essays on Chumash, he has gained recognition as the master of his craft. Rabbi Nachshoni chooses several difficult topics in each weekly Torah reading. He researches an unbelievable array of sources, from the Talmud and Midrash to contemporary commentators and thinkers. Then, he organizes all of these strands of thought and insight into masterful cohesive essays that shed brilliant light on the topics under discussion. The easy way to approach the task would be to quote or summarize selections from various classic commentators -- but that is not Nachshoni’s way. In a clear, literate style, he discusses the subject, using the commentators to illuminate its facets; showing their common denominators and their contrasts; moving on through the centuries to select shafts of ethical and halachic light. Rabbi Nachshoni has a unique ability to know what is essential and how to present it. The Hebrew Hagus B’Parshios HaTorah has been the classic in the field since it first appeared. Several new editions over the years have only added to its luster. Untold thousands of scholars and laymen consider it an indispensable tool to panoramic understanding of the weekly parashah. In one of the ultimate compliments to this modern-day classic, Rabbi Bezalel Zolty, the late Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, calls it a “contemporary Shitah Mekubetzes on the Torah.” High praise from a great scholar and author! This is the first English translation of Nachshoni’s classic. There is no doubt that it will be as much a triumph in English as the original had been in Hebrew.
