Study of the Bladder : During Parturition (Classic Reprint)

A clear, clinical look at how the bladder is affected during labor and delivery, with practical measurements you can follow.

The nonfiction work examines how uterine contractions and abdominal effort influence bladder pressure during parturition. It presents observed pressures from different studies and discusses how the cervix, membranes, and fetal position interact with the bladder. The content emphasizes measured forces and the reasoning behind conclusions, staying focused on the mechanics of labor.

In this edition, you’ll encounter discussions of experimental results, methods, and interpretations that help explain how bladder pressure develops in the second stage of labor and beyond. The material is technical but anchored in real observations and physical principles, providing a grounded view of parturition mechanics.

• How uterine contraction and abdominal effort contribute to bladder pressure

• Relation between cervix dilation and bladder readings across labor stages

• Discussion of different methods used to estimate expulsive forces

• Notes on the anatomy of the bladder and its role during labor

Ideal for readers of obstetric history and practitioners seeking a detailed, data‑driven look at bladder dynamics during labor.
