Print on Demand. This book's central theme is the nature and authority of conscience. The author begins by referencing the rise of evolutionary theory in the 18th and 19th centuries and the moral skepticism it produced. The author argues against the idea that moral values are merely the result of experience and heredity. Instead, the author contends that our sense of right and wrong is innate and divinely created. The author discusses several theories of conscience, including those of Darwin, Spencer, and Kant. The author argues that these theories are inadequate because they fail to account for the universality and authority of conscience. The author concludes by emphasizing the supreme authority of our conscience in determining right and wrong. The author argues that our conscience is the voice of God within us and that we must always strive to follow its dictates. This book is a valuable contribution to the literature on conscience. The author's arguments are clear and concise, and the book is full of insights into the nature and authority of conscience. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Concentrating on the question of whether conscience evolves with education and culture, the text argues that true conscience remains a steady voice, while judgment can change with circumstance. It critiques attempts to subordinate personal conscience to external authorities and warns against the dangers of denying individual moral discernment.
- Defines conscience as a constant inner perception of right and wrong.
- Examines how education, culture, and authority influence judgment without changing conscience’s core voice.
- Evaluates claims from evolution-focused ethics and critiques of absolute religious authority.
- Poses questions about the balance between personal conscience and institutional guidance.
Ideal for readers of philosophy, ethics, and religious studies who seek a clear, critical look at how conscience functions in thought and action.

All Forgotten Books titles are printed on demand. The moment an order is submitted, it is automatically transmitted to our distributor and then forwarded to the printer, where it enters production. This process begins within minutes and is entirely automated.

For this reason, we kindly ask that you double-check the title, edition, and your shipping details before placing an order.
If you change your mind after ordering, you are welcome to return the book once it arrives, and a refund will be issued in accordance with AbeBooks’ return policy.

If the book is damaged or defective please continue with the return process, and thank you for letting us know so that we can improve our products.
