""A Study in Greek Rhetoric: The Stylistic Influence of the Second Sophistic on the Panegyrical Sermons of St. John Chrysostom"" by Thomas E. Ameringer is a scholarly work that explores the impact of the Second Sophistic movement on the writing style of St. John Chrysostom's panegyrical sermons. The Second Sophistic was a cultural and intellectual movement that emerged in the Roman Empire during the second century AD, characterized by a revival of classical Greek culture and rhetoric. The book provides a detailed examination of the historical and cultural context in which Chrysostom wrote, as well as a thorough analysis of his sermons. This work is an important contribution to the study of ancient Greek rhetoric, early Christianity, and the cultural and intellectual history of the Roman Empire. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
