Providing a detailed analysis of the investment environment in India with respect to Taiwan, this report’s extensive primary data collection has highlighted challenges and opportunities of India’s effort to forge deeper ties in its neighborhood. The process to promote increased collaboration with Taiwan is already underway. Though barriers to investment continue to exist, India must expedite the process of domestic reforms to create an attractive business environment. The focus on select sectors and states helps provide granular information useful to policymakers, not only with respect to Taiwan, but more general, related to all domestic and foreign investments in India.
Rajat Kathuria is director and chief executive at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) in New Delhi. He worked with Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and has taught at the University of Maryland as well as the International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi. He is a founding member of Broadband Society for Universal Access and served on the board of Delhi Management Association. Mansi Kedia is a research associate at ICRIER in New Delhi. Her area of research covers trade, investment, and telecommunication policy. She has published papers/reports on the impact of information technology and telecommunication policies in India.
