A Study Of Modern Harmony (1915)

A Study of Modern Harmony, written by Rene Lenormand in 1915, is a comprehensive guide to the principles and techniques of contemporary music theory. The book offers a detailed analysis of the harmonic structures and compositional strategies employed by composers of the time, including Debussy, Ravel, Stravinsky, and Schoenberg. Lenormand explores the use of dissonance, chromaticism, and non-traditional scales in modern music, as well as the evolution of tonality and the emergence of atonality. The book is divided into two parts: the first covers the theoretical foundations of modern harmony, while the second provides practical exercises and examples for students to apply the concepts they have learned. A Study of Modern Harmony is an essential resource for students of music theory, composition, and analysis, as well as for anyone interested in the development of modern music. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
