About this Item
N.p. [but somewhere in Texas]: 1900. Slim 8vo, [65]pp. unpaginated. Original blue cloth, upper cover titled in gilt. A little browned and worn but very good. § A very uncommon book of poetry, no copies recorded for sale or at auction, only 7 copies recorded in OCLC of which 6 are in Texas and one in Clinton NY. The poems are mostly sentimental musings on life, death and love -- and homages to Omar Khayyam, but one is titled Phantom Hill Texas, about 15 miles north of Abilene and 160 miles west of Fort Worth. Google maps shows only the historic Fort. Simpson published a study of the Omar Khayyam quatrains in 1909. Loosely inserted is a portrait of Robert Browning. Seller Inventory # 125162
