Study of Optical Communication Systems (Paperback)

Paperback. This book serves as a foundational text in the area of optical fiber technology, offering a comprehensive overview of components, transmission systems, and network structures. Renowned for its clarity and depth, it is well-suited for both undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering programs. The book delivers accessible yet detailed insights into the fundamentals and real-world applications of optical fiber communication (OFC). It explores various materials, devices, components, and systems involved in OFC. Key topics include the characteristics of light, the development and structure of OFC systems, their advantages, and practical uses in optical LANs and communication networks. It thoroughly addresses different types of attenuation losses, dispersion mechanisms, light sources like LEDs and lasers, detectors such as PIN and avalanche photodiodes, as well as analog and digital transmitter-receiver configurations. Topics like connectorization, optical add-drop multiplexers (OADMs), and amplifiers are also covered. This item is printed on demand.
