Add to basket:: Early combined edition. :: In "A Study in Scarlet" we meet Dr. Watson and witness his introduction to Sherlock Holmes, a consulting detective, and accompany them on their first murder mystery together. :: "The Sign of the Four" is the second Sherlock Holmes novel, and in it Holmes and Watson take a case to help Miss Mary Morstan, whom has been receiving anonymous annual gifts she believes may be related to the disappearance of her father. :: Bound in publisher's sky-blue cloth, front board bears a black-line illustration of a complex Gordian Knot and sword above the titles and author lettered in gilt. Titles, author, and publisher lettered in gilt upon spine. Top edge textblock gray. Duodecimo (7 5/8 x 5 inches; 193 x 128 millimeters). 287 pages. Condition: Very Good. Spine slightly rounded, cloth has darkened upon the spine and around the edges. Small spots and stains, external and internal. Cloth is rubbed and split at the foot of the spine, touch of wear at the crown. Front blank has prior owner's gift inscription in nice hand, dated 1908. Pages age-toned.
