Stuff Out'a My Head

Joseph M. Monks (Cry for Dawn, The Night Terrors, NightCry) and legendary illustrator Bernie Wrightson (Swamp Thing, DC's House of Mystery, Spider Man) team up to present a collection of six of Monks' most disturbing tales to date. Included is the original, unedited version of TOKENS, one of the most popular stories adapted in the cult, underground comic book Cry for Dawn. Also contained in this collection is Chance Meeting, recently optioned for theatrical release and filming in Los Angeles in May of '03. Also among the stories included are BRUTAL, a relentless, gut-churning look into urban gang life and the lengths one will go to get respect among his peers. Rounding out the collection is the gruesome p0rn, wherein the world's hottest XXX actress, desperate to make her escape from the industry, is offered a hideous means of financing her future. Oversized paperback crammed to the gills with grisly fiction and the art of one of the horror industry's most well-known talents.

Sometime in the late 70s, Joe's mother purchased a suitcase-style portable typewriter for $5 at a garage sale. Finding this interesting device tucked away in the back of a closet at age nine, Joe figured out the mechanics of the device and began to experiment, producing...gibberish.

Not seeing much of a future in gibberish, he began to pound out short stories about his favorite subject matter--horror. Years later, these humble beginnings would help him scam his way into a number of legitimate universities after making a good showing in several national writing contests. Eventually, Monks settled on Fordham University, although it is likely the University is trying to deny this still.

While still in attendance at the University, Monks co-founded and co-created the cult phenomenon comic book, Cry For Dawn. After that company closed its doors in late 1993, Monks went on to publish other horror titles, including Tales of the Dead, NightCry, and most recently, The Night Terrors, with co-conspirator, Bernie Wrightson.

As Monks has continued to develop, his company has evolved into today's Chanting Monks Studios. Monks' most recent effort is his first book length horror anthology, entitled Stuff Out'A My Head, featuring illustrations by Bernie Wrightson, marking the third collaboration between the two horror aficionadoes.
