Submission to the Righteousness of God. or the Necessity of Trusting to a Better Righteousness That Our Own: Opened and Defended, in a Plain Practical Discourse Upon Rom.X.3

"Submission To The Righteousness Of God. Or The Necessity Of Trusting To A Better Righteousness Than Our Own: Opened And Defended, In A Plain Practical Discourse Upon Rom.X.3” by Benjamin Jenks offers a comprehensive defense of justification through the righteousness of God imputed by faith in Jesus Christ, rather than through self-reliance or adherence to the law. Jenks shares his journey from Pelagian and Arminian beliefs to the doctrinal position he now advocates, emphasizing that genuine righteousness is rooted in faith in Christ and the grace of God. He addresses the “righteousness of the law” and warns against antinomian temptations, while clarifying the distinctions between justification and sanctification, as well as the law’s purpose and the gospel’s mercy. This tract supports the Church of England’s doctrinal views, critiques Socinian and Pelagian extremes, and encourages believers to depend on Christ’s merits for peace with God. It is a significant 18th-century theological treatise.
