Suboccipital Muscle Inhibition vs MFR: Effect on Flexibility in Adults

Suboccipital muscle inhibition is a method of relaxing the tension in the cervical muscles (rectus capitis posterior major, rectus capitis posterior minor, obliquus capitis inferior, and obliquus capitis superior) located between the occiput and the axis, which regulates the upper cervical vertebrae. So, when the tone of these muscles reduce, the tone of the distant muscles of the superficial back line also reduces due to relaxation of the myofascia. Myofascial release is defined as the facilitation of mechanical, neural and psychological adaptive potential via myofascial system. It is based on the principle, that stimulates the muscles, tendons, and mechanoreceptors of the fascia. When the muscles are stretched, golgi tendon provide afferent feedback to the spinal cord, this helps to decrease the motor unit firing rate and muscle tone.
