A treatise on the culture of the fruit and kitchen garden, with the latest improvements for the common care of the home garden. With chapters on the classification of plants, soils and manures, atmosphere, the impact of animals and insects, diseases, structures, operations, and more. Written by John Claudius Loudon, a Scottish botanist, garden designer and author who was the first to use the term arboretum in writing to refer to a garden of plants, especially trees, collected for the purpose of scientific study. With publisher's advertisements to the front. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, sound with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with the odd mark to the boards. A large split in the cloth to the rear joint with spine detaching. Light fraying to the extremities with the odd small split in the cloth to the head and tail of the spine. Front hinge failed with rear hinge held by cords only. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting. Light age toning to the endpapers. Good Only.
