In 1946 Eugene Nofri was voted to the Chicago Board of Trade with an account balance of $800.  This set a record for the poorest member ever voted to the "big board."  At that time, he had a wife and three children to support.  With such meager financing, he was hardly in a position to engage in risky speculation. He couldn't afford to lose.  Yet, his fascination with the markets and the opportunity for making big money was too much to pass up.  He had big dreams and futures speculation seemed like the perfect way to make them come true.
 
Through trial and error, and a strong determination to discover a way to predict how prices will move, Mr. Nofri began to notice repetitive patterns of price fluctuation.  He called the method he developed over 28 years of trading, The Congestion Phase System. It is a system of short-term buying and selling, based on patterns formed by only a few days' prices within a period of price stabilization.  He was one of the earliest individual floor traders to reach the million dollar mark in profits trading in commodity futures.
