Review
Success Redefined: Notes to a Working Woman is a thoughtfully composed and challenging set of 60 new success principles geared at getting working women to re-evaluate how they define success, both in work and life. What is the measure of success? asks Giovannoni, a management trainer and seminar leader who has advised over 120,000 working women, from managers of Fortune 500 companies to owners of small businesses, over the past 10 years. What if success means being paid for doing what you like or going to work in comfortable clothes, perhaps even being able to have time to garden, transport children or enjoy every day of the week? Giovannoni's basic premise is that working women themselves limit the notion of success. When it can be redefined on personal, individual terms, choices are expanded in life, she argues, which means one can have a conscious career and a conscious lifestyle. The book features a "success principle" featured in a brief meditation, with a thought for contemplation on each facing page. Self-care, beauty, energy, attitude, creativity, competition, empowerment, opportunity and change are but a few of the topics tackled in practical, concise language with suggestions for how to implement them in order to see results. Giovannoni's ideas are topical, creative and emphasize the essential difference between making a living and creating one. I don't know of a working woman out there who isn't seeking more of a balance between her career and her personal life, or any working person in general, who couldn't glean something useful from reading this book. -- From Independent Publisher
