Successful Aging Through The Lifespan : Intergenerational Issues In Health

This book explores concepts and practices for productive aging: What factors contribute to successful aging? What is the role of exercise and nutrition? What is the role of children and adults in interaction with elders?

The chapters identify the best practices for successful aging, examine trends in intergenerational caregiving, and define roles and responsibilities across the life span. Topics addressed include:

• how to maximize productive engagement of older adults
• how multigenerational issues impact successful aging
• the ways in which a learning environment can promote intergenerational relationships.

May L. Wykle, PhD, RN, FAAN, FGSA, is Dean and Florence Cellar Professor of Nursing at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University. She is recent past president of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International.

Peter J. Whitehouse, MD, PhD, is Director of Integrative Studies at Case Western Reserve University, as well as professor of neurology, psychiatry, neuroscience, psychology, nursing, organizational behavior, and biomedical ethics and history. He is the founding president of the Intergenerational School, the world’s first-ever public multiage, community school.

Diana L. Morris, PhD, RN, FAAN, is an associate professor of nursing and associate director for programming at the University Center on Aging and Health, Case Western Reserve University.
