Comprising two volumes - "Down to the Sea" concerning the author's days at sea in both sail and steam, and "In Durance Vile", which relates his experiences and those of his colleagues in a German raider, in a couple of German prison ships and then as a prisoner-of-war in Japan, with much additional anecdote and comment in both volumes.
