Dustwrapper very good, some minor rubbing to ends of spine, flaps clipped. Cloth faded on boards. Small nick/hole to cloth on front spine edge. Some partial tanning to endpapers, neat previous owners inscription to front. Pages and plates all very clean and tight. With over 100 Illustrations including drawings and photographic reproductions. Invoice from Jarrold & Sons, Norwich, dated 1955, laid in. A fine copy in a near fine dust jacket, faint stains on rear panel. Lovely. First published in 1930, this is very much a companion volume to James's 1925 work ABBEYS.
