About the Author
Kimberly Sanders-Davey, PhD, MBA, MA, is an associate professor of healthcare administration at Samford University, where she serves as director of the undergraduate healthcare administration program. She also served as the founding director of Samford’s undergraduate public program. Dr. Sanders-Davey has extensive teaching experience in the areas of health systems, comparative health systems, health policy, leadership, management, marketing, and strategy at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A hallmark of Dr. Sanders-Davey’s teaching is the extensive interdisciplinary and interprofessional nature of her courses. At Samford, she has taught courses across four schools: the School of Public Health, Moffett &Sanders School of Nursing, McWhorter School of Pharmacy, and Cumberland School of Law. Dr. Sanders-Davey has held multiple leadership and service roles, including co-chair of the Communications Committee for the Health Administration section of the American Public Health Association (APHA), Chair of the Healthcare Management, Hospitality Management, and Public Administration track for the Southern Management Association (SMA),and Chair of the Communications and Development Committee for the Alabama Health Action Coalition. She currently serves as an elected Health Sciences Councilor for the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR).She is a reviewer for APHA, the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health(ASPPH), the Academy of Management (AOM),and SMA. Prior to joining Samford, Dr. Sanders-Davey served as a faculty member in the Department of Family, Community, and Health Systems at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing. She earned her PhD in Health Services Administration from UAB, her MBA from Samford University, and her MA in Diplomacy and International Relations from Seton Hall University.
