With Additions. Hallowell: Glazier, Masters & Co. 1831. 5, [vii]-xxxiv, 495 pp. Octavo (9" x 5-1/2"). Contemporary sheep, blind fillets to boards, calf lettering piece and blind fillets to spine, blind tooling to board edges. Moderate rubbing and a few scuffs to boards, somewhat heavier rubbing to extremities, a few chips to head of spine, corners bumped and somewhat worn, joints and hinges starting. Light toning to interior, somewhat heavier in places, offsetting to margins of endleaves, owner signature "G.F. Talbot" to head of title page. $350. * Second, final and best edition. This treatise is based on lectures given by Stearns at Harvard Law School, where he was one of its earliest professors. Pound says this work "proved to be one of the notable early American law books and was welcomed by a bar in need of accurate available information on technical procedure." This book probably belonged to George Frederick Talbot [1859-1938], a prominent Nevada attorney and a justice of the Nevada Supreme Court from 1903 to 1915.
