About the Author

Bill Pohlmann has been crazy about airplanes since he was a kid. After spending a long hitch in the Marines and then in college, Bill has spent his adult life working for various airframe manufacturers as a Systems Engineer, engineering airplanes like the DC-9 and DC-10 for Douglas Aircraft; the B-2 Bomber for Northrop Grumman. Currently, he engineers missile systems for Raytheon Missle Company of Tuscon.

This book describes 25 years of his weekend adventures flying low performance, single engine airplanes. So far, he's owned three: a Classic 1950 Piper Pacer, a Beechcraft Musketeer, and a Custom built, all wood single seat, open cockpit, Bowers Flybaby which is what he now flies, complete with helmet, goggles, white scarf and big smile.

The author is a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Experimental Aircraft Association. His home is in Los Angeles and he works in Tuscon.
