Surrounded by Love: An Open Adoption Story - Two Adoptive Moms

Surrounded by Love: An Open Adoption Story – Two Adoptive Moms is a tender, inclusive picture book that celebrates the beauty of open adoption through the lens of a family with two moms. Designed to answer a child’s early questions about where they came from, this modern, heart-centered story affirms that open adoption begins and grows with love.

With age-appropriate language and soft, expressive illustrations, the book helps young readers understand their unique beginnings—explaining the role of birth parents, the openness that connects families, and the immense love that led to their adoption. The story emphasizes honesty, connection, and security, making it a perfect first conversation about adoption for ages 0–8.

What makes this book especially powerful is its rare and affirming representation of two adoptive moms in an open adoption setting. While countless families are formed this way, very few children’s books exist today that reflect their reality. This story fills that gap with warmth, visibility, and authenticity, offering both a mirror for children in LGBTQ+ families and a window for others to celebrate love in all its forms.

Ideal for:

• LGBTQ+ families navigating adoption
• Adoptive parents seeking inclusive stories
• Teachers, therapists, and librarians who promote diverse family books
• Families and friends of adoptees
• Allies looking for compassionate, real-world stories to share with children

In a world where children’s literature is just beginning to reflect the full spectrum of family life, Surrounded by Love provides representation, reassurance, and a joyful message: you are deeply loved—and always have been.
