Synopsis

From the appearance of the book's cover, the reader would be forgiven for assuming that this is just another tale about a rescue at sea. The author discovers, after his near fatal experience in the Indian Ocean off the Cocos Islands, that he has unwittingly become part of a two-hundred-year-old recurring twist of fate. Directly related to two ancestors living centuries apart, with the same family name, who both coincidentally suffered the same fate in the same part of the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of West Africa. Luckily for JJ Paterson, he managed to survive a similar fate, while also meeting his soul mate Christina, who plays a major part in this intriguing tale.

About the Author

After migrating to Australia with his family from the UK at the age of 14, JJ Paterson embarked on the school of life. Eventually becoming involved in the offshore gas industry as a commercial diver, then a licenced rigger, crane operator and pile barge foreman. With enough money saved, JJ quit working offshore to realise a long-held goal with the purchase of a local music bar and becoming a publican. Unfortunately, years later, the sale of the bar dissolved into a protracted legal nightmare and then fate threw him a curve ball. With little cash and few options, JJ accepted a job as delivery crew on a 17m yacht located in Singapore and bound for Western Australia. What follows is probably best described as a story that had to be told.
