She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in the area of sudden violent death for bereaved survivors. She began the first therapy groups for survivors of homicide in the U.S. She is widely recognized and sought after as an authority on the effects of murder on family and other survivors, and has appeared as keynote speaker and guest lecturer at professional conferences around the world. She has been guest on the major network television talk shows including Oprah, Sally Jesse Raphael, Montel Williams and Geraldo among others. She is past-president of the Association for Death Education and Counseling, Inc.
