This is the French translation of the eponymous colloquium presented by G. R. Urban in collaboration with Michael Glenny*. Translated from the English by Paulette Vielhomme and Robert Louit. The starting point for this publication was a collection of radio interviews originally broadcast in 1970-71 by Radio Free Europe. It is part of Mercure's Environment and Society series. There are twenty two contributors in total; starting with Arnold J. Toynbee (Technological Progress and the Morality of Power) and ending with Brian W. Aldis (Learning to Live in a World Carrying the Seeds of Future Disaster). The interviews are divided into three sections: Scientific Progress and Traditional Morality, Growth, Control and Responsibilities, Choosing a Future. * (G. R. Urban and Michael are the radio programme interviewers, with the former also writing the book's Introduction).
