Suspicious Activity

Benigno "Bingo" Andrada Wu was supposed to be a finance prodigy. Top of his class at UCLA, a master's from USC by twenty-four. Instead, his mafioso uncle drafted him to launder money for the Eastside Kin, the Asian American crew his late father built in Southern California's San Gabriel Valley, cleaning cash through a growing chain of roast-pork restaurants called the Crispy Piglet.

Bingo is the smartest guy in every room and the loneliest. A bullet fragment lodged beneath his eye - a souvenir from the drive-by that killed his father - leaves him hearing a voice no one else can, and seeing the world the way it doesn't want to be seen. When a turf war erupts with a mysterious gang tied to his own past, loyalty and survival stop pointing the same direction.

Blending innovative meta prose with raw black-and-white comics, Suspicious Activity is a debut hybrid novel that pushes the boundaries of storytelling while delivering an unflinching, darkly funny exploration of crime, destiny, and the Asian American experience. Many rules were broken in the making of this book.
