Sustainability by Design: How One Building in China Could Change the World

Can a new "green" building in China be a model for sustainable development? In this book we follow the design, construction, and occupancy of the Institute for Building Research in Shenzhen, China. The emphasis is on how the building performs, and the satisfaction of the building's owner/designers and the researchers and staff who occupy the building. Careful use of daylighting, natural ventilation, and countless details for sustainability have made this a showcase of environmental excellence.

Rick Diamond and Wei Feng are researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where they conduct research on the energy performance of buildings. They write and speak internationally on the subject of green building performance.
