Sweeter Than Honey: A Study of Psalm 119 (Volume 1)

"Sweeter Than Honey: A Study of Psalm 119" is an insightful, devotional look into this longest of all chapters in the Bible. Since Psalm 119 is long, 176 verses, it is often read rapidly; however, this Psalm is worthy of a thorough and thoughtful reading. Dr. Sprague invites us to take a long, deep look into this rich Psalm and to meditate upon its truths. The writer of Psalm 119 reveals his deep love for God and his dependence upon God and God's Word. The Word of God sustained the Psalmist through many trials and difficulties. The Psalmist delights in God's Word, statutes, decrees, laws and commands. The Psalmist finds God's Word to be "Sweeter Than Honey" as he meditates upon it and obeys it. God's Word is truly the source of life for the Psalmist. The reader of "Sweeter Than Honey" will discover the same truths as he meditates upon and obeys God's Word. This is a delightful, enlightening read; thoughtful, but not overly technical. Dr. Sprague brings out the thoughts, emotions and actions of the Psalmist in an interesting manner accessible to all readers. The reader will be drawn into a deeper relationship with God and develop a growing love for the study, memorization and application of God's Word. The penetrating application questions add value for personal or group study.
