Worn marbled cover with leather spine and corners. Spine and covers lose but present. Spine has title in gilt. Endpapers show slight insect wear and very little foxing and dirt for age. Pages still bound with little foxing and age marks. Occasional colour added to engravings and occasional pencil marks. Sixteen illustrations by John Gilbert,engraved by Dalziel Brothers. The story is by Johan Daniel Wyss, author and translator not named.
