A narrative of the expedition to Botany Bay and a complete account of the settlement at Port Jackson 1788-1791 by Captain Watkin Tench. Tench was a military officer, who at the age of 29, reached Australia in 1788 as commander of a detachment of Marines with the First Fleet. Upon that basis, his name had come down the years as the one of very considerable importance in Australian history. He kept records of his experiences. These narratives, highly informative and brightly written, were esteemed when first published and with the passage of years have appreciated in value. This book contains both narratives in one.
