Synthesis on Sexterra

When Rye Fresnel leads a Seize, Implant, and Release team into hostile territory to tag some locals for remote study, the group is attacked, and the only son of the head of the Mure Council of Seven is killed in the ambush. But Procina Vozdayanya is determined that her son's sacrifice for colony expansion will not be in vain, and she now has an excuse to proceed with testing and release of the docilification virus, specially engineered to turn the Ami natives of planet Sexterra-73 into easily controlled sheep. With loyalties split at RockBase between those who support the leaders' cause and those who defend the Amis, who will betray The Council? And will the Rob, 25th century robots indistinguishable in appearance and manner from real Humans, side with the Humans, the Amis, or some force lethal to them both?In this sociologically and technologically visionary work, where the future is rarely a mere projection of our present, Recher depicts a world in many ways utopian. Yet nothing born of man is perfect, and sometimes a unique cascade of events spawned of emotion spirals out of control. In only six days, the future of the Mure is radically altered. Whether it is for better or for worse will be a subject of debate as long as politics and technology exist. With poignancy, humor, and a facility for language that makes his prose so often poetic, Recher will be your guide in this exoplanetary adventure as you witness these tumultuous events on a world 92 light years from Earth in the constellation Libra.
