viii + 295 pp. Black leather title block with gilt lettering.Some light insect damage to front and rear covers as well front paste down. Head of spine worn and with a small loss. Upper third of front and rear joint split but still sound. Intermittent foxing throughout and a few dog ears. An earlier version before steam engines and electromagnetism were added to the title. No marks or inscriptions.
