Systematic Theology Scripture Defines Scripture Volume 20: The Doctrine of Eschatology: The Consummation of God's Redemptive Plan: The Rapture, ... the Return of Christ, and the End of the Age

The last days are not a mystery God intended to leave unexplained.

In Systematic Theology, Volume 20: The Doctrine of Eschatology, Jeff C. Edwards presents a sweeping, Scripture-driven study of the Bible’s teaching concerning the end of the age. Following the principle that Scripture defines Scripture, this volume traces the prophetic sequence from the close of the present age through the Rapture, Daniel’s Seventieth Week, the rise of the Antichrist, the seal, trumpet, and bowl judgments, the visible return of Jesus Christ, Israel’s restoration, the Millennial Kingdom, the final rebellion, the Great White Throne, and the transition into eternity.

Rather than forcing prophecy into inherited systems, this volume allows the biblical text to establish its own chronology, distinctions, symbols, and conclusions. Major events that are often confused are carefully separated and explained, including:

• the Rapture and the Second Coming
• the Judgment Seat of Christ and the Great White Throne
• Daniel’s Seventieth Week and the Great Tribulation
• the beast, the False Prophet, and Mystery Babylon
• the first resurrection and the resurrection of the wicked
• the Millennial Kingdom and the eternal state
• Israel’s national restoration and the church’s distinct hope

Key passages from Daniel, Zechariah, Matthew, 1 and 2 Thessalonians, 1 Corinthians, Revelation, and the prophets are examined in their biblical context. Difficult questions are addressed without allegorizing away Israel, Christ’s earthly reign, the judgments of Revelation, or the clear sequence of prophetic events.

This is not merely a catalog of future events. It is a study of the faithfulness of God, the certainty of Christ’s return, the final defeat of evil, and the believer’s call to watchfulness, holiness, courage, and hope.

Designed to stand on its own while also serving as part of the complete twenty-four-volume Systematic Theology—Scripture Defines Scripture series, The Doctrine of Eschatology offers a detailed yet accessible guide for pastors, teachers, Bible students, and readers seeking a complete biblical framework for the last days.

History is moving toward its appointed King.
