About this Item
Hobart, J. Walch & Sons, 1888. Large-4to. pp. (4), 6, xxii, (2), 408, with folded coloured geological map of Tasmania, 57 mostly tinted lithographed plates of fossils, and 25 plates including sections, views, and portraits of Trucanini and King Billy. A beautifully produced monograph published by the Authority of the Government. "While the scientific aspect has not been neglected, a great portion of the work is devoted to the description of our rocks containing tin, gold, coal, and other valuable products . I trust the work may be of practical service to all who are engaged in the development of the important mineral resources of the Colony" (From the Introduction). A fine copy of this scarce work.
