TASMAN'S PSYCHIATRY

This book is the first comprehensive reference work to cover the entire field of psychiatry in an updateable format and is designed specifically to keep up with emerging trends and models of care in rapidly evolving fields. Written by veterans in psychiatry and medical education, this edition builds on 20 years of editions at the forefront of the field, covering topics not only clinical chapters on disease entities and their various treatments, but also sections on normal human development, the neuroscientific basis of psychiatry and the psychological and social foundations as well.  The book approaches the full range of psychiatric disorders as covered in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5) and International Classification of Diseases (ICD10) classifications, focusing on their diagnostic considerations, treatments, psychopharmacological and non-psychopharmacological approaches, behavioral recommendations, and the full breadth of coverage for each disorder.  The book covers subjects that are frequently neglected elsewhere, such as personality disorders, family and couples therapy, research methodology and statistics, problematic media use, tobacco and alcohol misuse, psychosocial consequences in disaster populations, victims of torture, sexual abuse, and others.
