THAILAND: LAND OF CULTURE & HERITAGE (Four Color)

Synopsis : Thailand, as the land of Siam is now called, is a nation that for many centuries has been justly famous for its remarkable history and traditions, and today each year it attracts millions of visitors eager to enjoy its captivating atmosphere. Yet, despite the luxuriant nature and magnificent temples of this verdant country, the civilization that created some of the world’s most impressive artistic and architectural creations is still relatively unknown to the general public. Thailand, Land of Culture & Heritage illustrates the rich history and evolution of the land and its people, visionary creators who from the Neolithic era onward established local artistic techniques certainly as refined as the better- known- and partly contemporaneous- ones of China, and who also absorbed and modified the influence of the great neighboring cultures from India and adjoining regions, evolving a unique Thai style. This volume, illustrated with high-quality photographs, presents the history, techniques, beliefs, myths, epic cycles, symbolism, doctrines and traditions of Thailand. The narrative and illustrations provide and authoritative and articulate overview that through complementary words and images analyzes five millennia of a still evolving treasure house of multicultural and multifaceted artistic development.
