Add to basketSalmon paper-covered boards printed in black, DW, large 12mo., 4, (1), 35-93, (2) pages, title-page metal cut by Hammer of Kolbsheim Chapel printed in red. Copy number 2 of 250 numbered copies set by Victor Hammer and printed by Jacob Hammer on Arches Laid paper. Signed in pencil by Victor Hammer and dated 1960. This text was substantially rewritten and forms a large part of "Memory and Her Nine Daughters the Muses" in 1956 & 1957. Laid into this copy are a single sheet prospectus, printed in American Uncial, for "On the Nature and History of Architecture" by Conrad Fiedler, 1954, printed by Carolyn Reading (Hammer) prior to her marriage to Hammer in 1955; and a small sheet bearing the Gravesend pressmark cut in wood by Fritz Kredel, with the inscription "For Margot & Hippo from Lucy & Joe". Hippo is H. Richard Archer, prominent bibliographer, librarian and private press proprietor of the Hippogryph Press; Joseph Graves directed the Gravesend Press and worked closely with the Hammers in Lexington. A fine copy in a very near fine DW with minor marginal toning, in archival mylar. The inclusions are fine, with one fold to the prospectus.
