Published in Whitby in 1880, this is the second edition of this very scarce short story set in nearby Goathland, book is bound in the original blue cloth covers, a small slim format measuring 6 inches by 5 inches approx., 64 pages, illustrated with a tipped in frontispiece. The books covers are heavily discoloured with lightened patches, general edge rubbing wear, internally contents are a little shaken, old ownership bookplate to front pastedown, free front blank endpaper has been removed, endpapers browned else content generally nice and clean.
