TREATISE ON THE DIPLOMACY OF THE FUTURE

At a time when the world is entering a phase of systemic turbulence—geopolitical reconfiguration, digital transformation, and climate emergency—diplomacy can no longer be conceived using the tools of the past. In Treatise on the Diplomacy of the Future, Dédé Watchiba calls for a re-foundation of diplomatic practice in the age of global complexity. Moving beyond traditional state-centric diplomacy, the book examines the rise of a systemic, technological, and ethical diplomacy in which cyberspace, artificial intelligence, climate governance, the data economy, and influence narratives become central arenas of power. Drawing on a transdisciplinary approach, the author sheds light on the new architectures of global power, transactional diplomacy, the governance of planetary commons, and Africa’s strategic role in a polycentric world. Both a theoretical treatise and a forward-looking analytical tool, this book is intended for diplomats, policymakers, and scholars seeking to understand—and shape—twenty-first-century diplomacy as a shared responsibility in an interdependent world.
