Eighth edition, "revised, enlarged and newly illustrated, with a supplement" by Henry Winthrop Sargent. 576 pages. Handsomely illustrated with six steel engraved plates plus the portrait frontis, all with tissue guards, six full page engravings on stone (lithographs) also with tissue guards, plus 104 woodcut illustrations in the text, 42 of which are full page. Green cloth with gilt highlights, chocolate end papers, beveled edges. Good to very good condition with lightly frayed edges, light foxing internally, the binding tight, no owner names.
