SHEPARDSON BOOKSTALL, 20 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE. RARE SURVIVING DJ is unclipped (95 cents); in mylar; tanned on spines; small chips on two corners; 1/2 inch wide by approx. 2 1/2 long chip on top spine. BOOK is covered in green BALLOON cloth which has some fading on it; has grey top edge. STORY: Shandy narrates the story of his life, beginning with his conception and focusing on his family, particularly his unconventional father Walter and his gentle Uncle Toby. One of the recurrent jokes in the novel, Shandy cannot explain anything concisely and Sterne utilizes many narrative devices to accommodate Shandy s digressions on countless subjects, especially human disconnection and his doubts about truly knowing himself.
