Published in London in 1859 this is a re-edited early edition of this early work on Joseph Mallord William Turner RA, known contemporarily as William Turner, the famous English Romantic painter, printmaker and watercolourist. the book is bound in the original embossed patterned green cloth with later cloth spine, internally illustrated with ten plates on heavyweight art paper, plus 121 pages of text, including a catalogue of Turner?s works at rear, the book is a larger format measuring 11.5 inches by 9 inches approx. as mentioned the book has been recased with a new cloth spine and endpapers, original cloth boards have some wear at edges, replacement spine cloth has some mild patchy lightened spots else covers in good general condition, internally the plates have some noticeable foxing, small edge tear to plain margin of frontispiece with no loss, a few of the plates have ragged and dusty edges, tissue guards where present are noticeably browned with some creasing, a few handling marks else in good acceptable condition A GENERALLY GOOD ACCEPTABLE EXAMPLE OF THIS SCARCE WORK.
