Table 52 - A Collection of Short Stories

The short stories from Table 52 Writers cover an eclectic mix of themes dealing with a wide range of human experience. From the tragic and moving to the uplifting and humorous, each story sprang from the vivid imagination of the storyteller. The result is a diverse and thought-provoking collection, bringing to life an innocent young girl, a grieving man and his talking dog, an outrageous romantic, an ambitious film director, a tormented bus driver, an imperfect family, a disillusioned wife, a Turkish chorister in London, and a callous town gossip.After coming together as a group on a writing course, the authors continued to meet at a local café, to share and discuss their writing, and to support each other - they always sat at table 52. As well as being an enjoyable read, this book aims to inspire others to take the plunge and start their writing journey.

We formed our group, Table 52 Writers, following a creative writing course at Richmond and Hillcroft Adult Community College (RHACC) in South West London. Discussions during the course inspired us to continue meeting, sharing our writing and supporting each other. When not in lockdown, we meet at a local cafe to read and review our stories, our table is always number 52. Sitting around table 52, we came up with the idea of a book.

Born in Paris, Flavie has lived in the UK for over twenty year. A former scientist, she has always enjoyed immersing herself in art, books and travel. It was while caring for her young children that she braved a course on creative writing and met her fellow writers at Table 52. When not walking or running, she spends her time with her fictional characters creating stories. Her next challenge is to finish that novel. Deborah Reeves

Karen Ali After a long career in publishing and marketing, Karen is happy to stop writing about products and instead write about characters, plots and far away places. Motivated by the enthusiasm of her fellow creative writers, she is now attempting to dust off and make some headway with that near-forgotten bottom-drawer novel.
